2014

Happy New Year!
2014 is going to be awesome for many, many reasons, I can just feel it!

Normally, I'm like most other people at the beginning of the year. I have an idea of what I want to do, change, start, or quit doing for the entire year. I've tried drastic and simple resolutions over the years. I am going to try something new this year, something I haven't tried yet.

Each month, a new resolution. One month of change instead of a year of wishing I had stuck with my resolutions. Each month, something to better myself (weight loss/fitness), my kids (quality time/play times), my family (less screen time/quality time), my environment (awareness), possibly even my community (volunteering), and my house/yard (organization). Each month, my resolution will be modified to fit that goal.

I'm SO excited! Twleve resolutions! Twelve months to do something good for myself.

January is going to be simple as we'll be busy-busy. January is one of my busiest months at work. Christmas decorations need to be packed away. Cole has many basketball games. Logan is transitioning to a toddler. We have family to visit with. My office Christmas party to attend. And hopefully a date night with the hubby. Our weeks and weekends are already filling up too fast (a goal for another month, to lessen to busy). Somewhat related, my fitness goal for the year is to become more active, and lose poundage. This goal isn't included with this project just because I need to make a lifestyle change, not just a monthly change in regards to weight loss.

I'm so excited to get this going!

Things a Lefty Baby Can't Do. Thing 2

Tonight, Logan really, really, really wanted to put a few little books in a little plastic bin. Except, the bin was on his right side and the books were on the left. So, my little left tried and tried to get the books around his body and kept hitting the bin. His right arm was in the way and he couldn't twist quite enough to get the books in the bin. He eventually ran out of patience after the bin fell off the coffee table. (It started on the left side and gradually moved until it fell off the right side). He lost interest at this point and is now pushing his books around like cars.

Next time, I'll move the bin to his left side so he can be successful in his book organizing venture.

Things a Lefty Baby Can't Do. Thing 1.

I think my baby is a lefty. So far he eats with his left hand and grabs everything with his left hand. He uses his right when he needs to transfer something to his left hand and that's about it. I've been left wondering how lefties of the world do.... well, everything?!

The past few nights he's wanted to play with his See 'n Say and the lever is on the right. In order to get the animal sounds he has to pull the lever down. Well, when he pulls the lever down, with his left hand, his whole left arm is in the way. He loses interest in the toy pretty quick because his right hand/arm just doesn't do it the same.

My poor little lefty.

The Little Prince

I absolutely LOVE this picture.

And not because of the reasons you think. I don't follow celebraties, I don't read trash magazines, and I don't understand the obsession with this family at the moment. I didn't know her due date/month,  I didn't bet on the sex of the baby, I'm not trying to guess the name.

After I saw these first pictures come across my daily news I suprisingly don't  mind that this little family is even in my news feed. A few years ago it was annoying, it was hard to miss the fact that they got married, it was all over. Yes, they looked happy and beautiful but it did not affect my day to day life but I guess the event made others swoon.

What I truly, truly love about this picture is Kate's belly. That's right! I love that she isn't covering, hiding, or photoshopping her post-pregnancy belly. It shows that she did indeed give birth wtihin the past few days! I also love that she looks natural and beautiful with her new-mom-glow, but for me its all about the belly. She's even holding it as if she were still pregnant! This is what real women look like coming home with their babies. (Of course, my hair was in a bun and I was in sweats.) Kate, who is under the public microscope on a daily basis, is amazing to me. I shouldn't be so suprised that she went out like this, but I am.

The newborn photos we see here in the U.S. grocery aisle magazines and online news media are trash. Celebrity parents are posed (usually just mom) with a ton of make up and hair done, in a bed covered up, or are posed holding the newborn (usually with just diaper on) up by their face. Where is their body? Usually weeks later new photos of the baby-mama looking exactly like she did pre-pregnancy. This is a topic for another entry though...

I wish these new parents the best. I hope he helps her change diapers and I hope she doesn't feel the need to look perfect in the upcoming months and focuses only on her health and baby.

I have never seen a picture of Kate looking more beautiful.

Crib Mattrerss

Cole and I made a huge Walmart run today. Main thing I needed to get was a crib mattress. This is all we needed to 'finish' the baby room.  He was a great help. After our shopping was done he went back to the baby section and carried the mattress to the check out, and then to the car. These are not the smallest things to lug around!

We got home and he was so excited to carry it in, which of course I let him do. He brought it into the baby room, took off the plastic, opened the mattress pad, put it on and then asked to put together the mobile. He was so excited! Someone is SO excited to be a big brother!

Drum roll.......

Jeremy and I had our ultrasound on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 @ 9:45 to be exact. We were in there for about 45 minutes. The images of our baby were amazing. To see the little head, spine, bones, kidneys, and heart were overwhelming. This was very different than Cole's fuzzy ultrasound from 12 years ago. Jeremy had never seen an ultrasound so i was great thing for me to watch him see our baby for the first time!

I caught a glimpse right away of what I thought the baby's gender was... then a few slides later it was confirmed! BOY! We are over the moon and really only had one friend who thought it was a boy, most people thought we would have a girl. Jeremy and Cole will be great role models for the new little addition to our family. And I will continue to be outnumbered.

Sweet Baby

We had our monthly appointment yesterday! Heartbeat is 152. Very solid and our doctor found it almost immediately. Also, baby is about the size of a sweet potato! Getting bigger each week. And, we have the ultrasound scheduled for June 13th! Will be exactly 20 weeks at that point. I am looking forward to seeing how close we are to being on schedule and how big baby is getting. At this point we're hoping to find out if baby is girl or boy. However, knowing the baby's mother and father it might just be stubborn and not let us find out...

I'm not a big worry-wart in regards to being pregnant, but it is sure nice to hear that little heartbeat. I think it makes Dad (aka Papa Jer) pretty excited too. Now to buy the little device this weekend so Cole can hear it, I think that will make his day!

Hoping to hit a few garage sales over the weekend to look for some general neutral and clean items to stock up on for baby. Last weekend we got one of the two bedrooms cleared out. Cole will be moving into this one and baby into his current room. Only problem is he wants his bedroom walls green or orange! Not sure I'm willing to cover the walls in those colors, but we'll see... I'm a pushover sometimes. Just have to warn him it will be that color f.o.r.e.v.e.r., and when he leaves for college he can paint over it! Ha!

I did find these 2 pictures below on Pinterest, so maybe orange isn't so bad?!
